Privacy Policy

Salud helps you find happy hours, deals and what's on at bars and eateries near you. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it plain — and we don't sell your data.

Who we are

Salud (“we”, “us”) is a venue-discovery service based in Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand. For any privacy question or request, contact hello@salud.nz. We handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

Information we collect

• Account details. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from your Google account, and use them to create and identify your Salud account. You can also browse as a guest without an account.
• Things you add. Content you contribute — events and deals you add or verify, photos you upload, comments or disputes, and any business-claim details you provide (such as the business email or Google account tied to a venue).
• Approximate location. If you allow it in your browser or device, we use your location to show venues near you. You can decline and the app still works.
• Technical data. Basic device and usage information (such as browser type and IP address) and a sign-in token stored on your device to keep you logged in.

How we use your information

• To run the service — show venues, deals and events, sign you in, and let you add or verify content.
• To keep Salud secure, prevent abuse, and moderate community contributions.
• To contact you about the service (for example, an occasional launch email if you ask for one). We don't run ads and we don't send marketing spam.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with the providers that help us run Salud, and only as needed:

• Google — sign-in and maps.
• Amazon Web Services and Neon — application hosting and database (servers in Australia).
• Cloudflare — website hosting and content delivery.

Because some of these providers store data in Australia and other countries, your information may be held or processed outside New Zealand. Providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Cookies and local storage

We use your device's local storage to hold your sign-in token so you stay logged in. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your information while your account is active. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information at any time by emailing hello@salud.nz, and we'll respond within a reasonable time.

Age

Salud lists venues that serve alcohol and is intended for people aged 18 and over. We ask you to confirm your age when you sign up.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to access and correct the personal information we hold about you. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled a privacy matter, you can contact the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Salud grows. We'll change the “last updated” date above, and highlight any significant changes in the app or on this page.
